What an artist needs...

Photo from: Emily Golitzin

An Artist needs...

A bunch of spirit
Rounds of pleasure
Experiences of love
A muse
Access to a well of inspiration
A jolt of eccentricity
A solid support system
A sprinkling of bitter experiences
A dash of empathy
Some sympathy
A thirst for true self expression
Love for the little things
A drive for perfection
An intense desire to create

But most importantly an artist needs...

Someone who believes in their ability to create.

Someone to believe in.

Something to be inspired by.

Love you all and Stay inspired,

P.S. So let me know what you think. What do you think an artist needs? Feel free to let me know in the comments below.

Ripped Dollarbies!

Ok I know some people will wonder why on earth anyone would wear something that looks like plain, shoddy workmanship, or worse, resembles the aftermath of an assault! And I know there are also others who will say that with all the ripped out parts, no wonder these are dollarbies (for them, this is a rip-off!! hee)!! But we all know that fashion is never quite logical (it defies logic in fact, if not, why would otherwise sensible and intelligent women wear heels so high that they know will hurt their joints and backs in the long run??) and that it is so subjective that one man's meat truly is another's poison indeed! Anyway, love or hate them, for me, the lovely colours are what attracted me in the first place, and that more than makes up for the 'missing' material!!

OMG! A Gown in my Name!!

I felt so honoured today when I received a gown named after me from Inzane Creations designer Zane Shepherd!! That was so sweet of her and I was really touched by that gesture, I mean, it's not everyday that I get something created in my name!! I just love the gown's bright cheery colours which happen to be in my favourite shades too, and of course I love it that the gown can be worn as a bodysuit/lingerie, and that it includes a pair of pretty stockings, shoes, earrings, brooch, and hair as well!! Zane sure thinks of everything!!

Seeking Inspiration:Everything is Art

Dearest Devotees,

Is everything art? Does everything have artistic/inspirational potential? These are questions I've been thinking a lot about lately, especially in the past week. So far every answer I've come up with has just led me to more questions. Right now, I'm reading a career book that claims that a lot of not obviously artistic careers like psychology, biology and economics (My major and I never knew!) do have artistic components. If this is true, the next most logical question I could think of was what is art? I think of it as ways in which you express your emotions, feelings and self, but apparently this definition can run you into several problems. For example you express yourself through body language, therefore is body language an art? Also if you are a particularly artistic individual who tends to express your stronger emotions in your favorite art form (dance, music, poetry, etc) and you encounter a situation, such as a relationship that does not move you to art does that mean you are not invested enough in or moved enough by the situation? Hmmm....

Anyway, here is a potluck of all my favourite sources of inspiration in the past week:

Music:

Monday Morning- Melanie Fiona

Dear Maria Count me in- All Time Low (I am a total sucker for the pin up look in the video. Also the song really makes me think of a 50s style pancake house for whatever reason...)

Naive- The Kooks

Wavin' Flag- Young Artists For Haiti- Such a great song!

My translation;

You may think I'm crazy.

Many people do, but answer me this. Is it crazy to give up everything you've got, risk everything you have to get something you desire with your all? Maybe it is. Maybe it would be better for me to ''play it safe'', to go to college, get a degree in a secure field I lack passion for, maybe accounting, and spend the rest of my life seeking happiness and a sense of fulfillment from things I know will not fulfill me. Then maybe, just maybe when they lay me off during the next recession, as I am 3 years away from retirement, and no longer have any expectations to live up to, I will be finally able to do what I want. Live the way I have always desired to live and be the person I have forever longed to be.

I could wait for that day.

Or I could skip all the years of torment and torture, save myself from all that regret and take that chance today.

I may fall on face.

I may not succeed.

I may have to sleep in fields under makeshift tents for a while.

But don't judge me or pity me, because I will be happy.

Doing what I love or at least trying to get there.

And that's all that matters.

Life Imitates Art

I was feeling a little out of sorts yesterday when a good friend of mine, Squishy dropped in and suggested that I visit Art Box. I was reluctant at first because I was just getting comfy, but boy was I glad I moved my butt! Art Box is basically an art gallery with a twist, in that one can get into the artwork itself and, well, imitate art! Or is it the other way round?

Here's Squishy trying his best to persuade me...

Later at Art Box...

OMG! I'm Marge Simpson!

What a happy couple (LOL)!!

I'm larger than life !(for once, hee)...

Anyway, we both had a good laugh at the end of it all and it sure made my day! Thanks Squishy! Muachh!
