This year, the first day of Chinese New Year falls on the same day as Valentine's Day--February 14, and since the traditional colours for both occasions are red, pink, or such similar shades, I think on that day there may be a sea of red or pink everywhere! But it's a good thing that over the years, people no longer follow these unspoken 'rules' when it comes to colour and style, especially for Chinese New Year clothes, red or pink is no longer de rigueur, and some go so far as to wear black (gulp!) which is traditionally frowned upon as an inauspicious colour...
